Ecosystem

Ecosystem

CO2-IMPACT, co-coordinated by UTU and ÅAU in collaboration with Tampere University and VTT, is developing a nationally based carbon capture and utilization (CCU) ecosystem with global visibility and strong international networks.

The competence center brings together a growing network of academic, industrial, and societal actors, supported by multiple ongoing research and innovation projects. It operates as an open innovation cluster that develops pilot infrastructures, attracts investment and talent, and strengthens Finland’s position in CCU.

Several partners from both the public and private sectors have signed Letters of Support, reflecting a strong commitment to the long-term development of the ecosystem.

Infrastructure

CO2-IMPACT is supported by the RCF FIN-BioFoundry national infrastructure (2025–2028, ) and by IBISBA, a European research infrastructure dedicated to industrial biotechnology and biomanufacturing (https://ibisba.eu).
