National CCU Forum<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A national CCU forum<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b>held at Hanaholmen in Espoo on 4 September 2026 <\/span>brought together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers and other <\/span>stakeholders to discuss how Finland can transform captured carbon into a <\/span>valuable resource, and accelerate the wider deployment of carbon capture and u<\/span>tilization.<\/span><\/p>

Organized by <\/span>Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne<\/span><\/strong> <\/strong>(University of Turku) and <\/span>Chunlin Xu<\/span><\/strong> <\/span>(\u00c5bo Akademi University), in collaboration with researchers from <\/span>VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the University of Helsinki, and Tampere University, the event drew<\/span><\/strong> 15 speakers from research, industry, government and the public sector. Their contribution underscored the breadth of CCU technologies already under development in Finland - and the need for closer collaboration across disciplines and sectors to bring these innovations together.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

A key message emerged from the panel discussions: Finland needs stronger national coordination to turn its scientific expertise and substantial biogenic CO\u2082 resources into industrial opportunities.<\/span><\/p>

We also took part in the Europa Forum (Europa Forum<\/a>) in Turku (26\u201328 August 2026), where our booth drew visitors keen to discuss Carbon Capture and Utilisation. European security, economy, and democracy are undergoing major changes \u2013 changes directly reflected in people’s everyday lives, from energy prices to shifts in working life and the sense of security. The forum featured three days of inspiring talks and discussions on these and many other aspects of the European Union’s future.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
